KNOCK KNOCK: Be Sure to Lock That

Worship Outline for Sunday, March 30, 2014
Marshall United Methodist Church

Ephesians 4.1-6
Unity of the body of Christ
CEB, Common English Bible
Therefore, as a prisoner for the Lord, I encourage you to live as people worthy of the call you received from God. Conduct yourselves with all humility, gentleness, and patience. Accept each other with love, and make an effort to preserve the unity of the Spirit with the peace that ties you together. You are one body and one spirit, just as God also called you in one hope. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all, who is over all, through all, and in all.

NRSV, New Revised Standard Version
4 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.

Prayers
An Opening Prayer:
Almighty God, through Jesus you say to us that whoever wishes to be first must become the least and the servant of all.
We enter into your presence, knowing that your victory is won through the powerlessness of the cross. We come to pray that your church may be one. Teach us to accept humbly that this unity is a gift of your Spirit; through this gift, change and transform us and make us more like your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Praying for Others:
After each is lifted by name and prayed for,

“One God and Father of all…. Hear our prayer.”

We lay before you, Our Lord, each of our brothers and sisters:
Crossroads Church & Ministries  ~  First Presbyterian Church
Family Bible Church  ~  Grace Baptist Church
First Baptist Church  ~  Trinity Church-Episcopal
Four Winds Christian Fellowship  ~  St. Mary Parish-Catholic Church
Zion Lutheran Church  ~  Marshall Seventh-Day Adventist Church
Marshall Wesleyan Church  ~  Rice Creek Community Church
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Marshall Assembly of God  ~  Christ Lutheran Church

(Please continue praying for each of these throughout the week.)

The Lord's Prayer:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory for ever.  Amen.

Take It Out the Door
Who are you out of sync with?
Broken relationship with another believer?
Mad at someone else from the church you attend or another?
Find unity by apologizing, forgiving, agreeing to disagree, or whatever it takes to bring God's Church back into harmony with itself.  You'll be glad you did!

Now turn the lock... grab a hand or offer a hug... Secure, at last!

Who, What, Where, Why, When?

Who: My name is Melany and I am blessed to pastor at Marshall United Methodist Church in Marshall, Michigan. Great group of people walking a faith journey together as we do our best to love God and love others.

What: I am creating this post to assist in Sunday Traditional worship. You can jump online a few days before worship to see what's coming, or during worship to follow along, or even after worship if you missed or just want to continue the study during the week.

Where: www.MUMCinfo.blogger.com is where you can find this. You can also find out more about MUMC at www.umcmarshall.org on our website, or you can dowload our app at Apple or Android stores. Beyond that, you can also read my personal blog at www.pastormelany.blogspot.com if you're really bored.

Why: Just seems like it could be helpful. Robert, our amazing Contemporary Worship Leader has been using YouVersion for years to help get some of this info up, but has been looking for something better. We're hoping this is it.

When: Every Sunday at 11 am for worship. If you prefer a more Traditional format, then show up at 9 am and you'll be joining us with bells, chancel choir, liturgies, and the organ.  Contemporary has a rocking band. a message that carries you out the door, and round tables to sit at to help form community.  Hope to see you soon! We'll learn, serve, and grow together...
